By Design is a design office in Morgantown, Kentucky, run by Chuck Riplinger. For 40 years Chuck has been drawing the homes, additions, shops and facilities that got built around here — and in a county this size, that means a lot of the houses you drive past.
Experience you can hear in a phone call
Forty years is long enough to have seen almost every way a project can go sideways: a foundation drawn for the wrong grade, a beam that was never sized, a permit set returned twice for the same missing note. That experience is the reason our drawings are thorough, and the reason we tell clients the truth about cost before they fall in love with a plan they can't build.
You work with the person doing the work
There's no account manager here and no drafting handed off overseas. Chuck takes the call, visits the site, draws the plan and answers the questions your builder has three months later. Clients bring up communication and integrity more than anything else, and that's on purpose.
Residential, agricultural and industrial
Most of the work is homes — custom design, house plans, additions and remodels. But the office also handles structural design, mechanical and piping layouts and CADD drafting for farm operations and light industrial facilities, which is unusual for a residential designer and very handy when a project needs both.
Local by choice
Butler County is home, and Morgantown is where the drafting table sits. From here we serve Bowling Green, Beaver Dam, Brownsville, Leitchfield, Russellville, Central City, Greenville, Hartford and Franklin — close enough to walk your lot with you, which is where good design actually starts.
